Cooking Spray

Back to the Notes Index

Don't buy commercial cooking sprays; you don't know what's in them:oil plus what chemicals? Nor do you know what propels them: ozone-eating, planet-warming, or something else?

Buy a couple of pump-type spray-bottles and fill them yourself. I have one with olive oil and one with vegetable oil, and use whichever one works best with what I'm cooking.

You don't need to fill them with pure oil. Use a proportion of 5 parts water to 1 part oil, and give the bottle a good shake every time you use it, so you're spraying a mixture of oil and water.
